Here’s an infographic you can use it details the most recent (2013) statistics of children coming in, entering, and exiting the foster care system. The infographic is a broad overview using the data compile by Child Welfare Information Gateway and doesn’t focus on child abuse or some of the other data that exist. My plan is to share a few of these infographics using the data from their reports. If you want the full report I’ve provided a link at the bottom of this post that you can click to download it from the Child Welfare website.
Over the next few days and possible the next few weeks I am going to share information in the form of infographics like this one that cover child abuse, adoption, foster care, and the outcomes produced by the systems responsible for preventing child abuse and neglect.
What do you think about this data? I was glad to see the numbers decrease from where theyw ere in 2004, but I don’t feel that it is nearly enough. What number would satisfy me you ask? How about 0. In a perfect world that would be the case 0 children entering the foster care system and child abuse and neglect would be non existent but this isn’t a perfect world so my hope is for consistent decreases year over year.
